The BBC needed to forge a stronger relationship with their audience at a time of increasing fragmentation in the way viewers consume entertainment.

We transformed the BBC audience from ‘latent lovers’ into ‘active advocates’. People don’t often stand up for brands they love, but they do love content that relates to them.

Y&R London designed a love button that, with one simple click, got consumers to show us their favourite BBC content. In return, they got recommendations we thought they would love. We launched this popular new functionality with a series of trailers that brought the audience’s love for BBC content back to life.

The BBC Love campaign has been a huge success. In just ten months, there have been 2.9 million clicks on the heart button with viewers discovering over eight milion new pieces of content, as well as 25% more positive interactions with the BBC.
