The FA Cup signifies the biggest stage of the footballing year for most clubs. A chance to get national exposure, go up against their heroes and defy the odds. The competition means everything to these players and their fans, they know an all in attitude is the minimum requirement.
But with the incredibly diverse way in which people consume sporting events, coupled with an overwhelming number of star-powered football competitions, the FA Cup found itself no longer resonating with a youth audience having lost the nostalgic and an ‘anything can happen’ mentality of previous generations of fans.
The BBC needed to showcase the emotion of the FA Cup and re-engage a younger demographic with the oldest football competition in the world.
Our campaign captured the intensity and passion of the competition. With a black and white, gritty treatment to the films we made the FA Cup an unmissable event in the footballing calendar.
